Dunorlan Park Firework Cancellation Announcement 2020

Royal Tunbridge Wells Round Table are sorry to announce that due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic we have taken the decision to cancel the Dunorlan Park fireworks for 2020.

This has been a difficult decision to make as this will be just the second time in 63 years that the charity display will be cancelled.

Due to the uncertainty around public gatherings, it makes it difficult to adequately plan the event at this stage. Costs have to be incurred in advance of the display and as a small charity, we can not risk charitable funds being put at risk should the display not go ahead. It is also vitally important to put the safety of our guests and amazing volunteers first.

We would like to thank all our partners that help us put on the display and we promise to come back fighting, with a bigger and better display in 2021.

All of us at Royal Tunbridge Wells Round Table hope that you and your families stay safe and well at this difficult time.

We look forward to seeing you all in November 2021!

Quotes

Phil Hardy Bishop – Chairman
“It is a great disappointment that the fireworks can not go ahead this year. This is the biggest single event held in the town each year and we know many will miss the display. It also means a number of charities will miss out on vital funds but we promise to come back bigger and better. We will continue to support local charities and other events in the town the best we can over the next year”.

Simon Addis – Fireworks Committee Chairman
“It is only the second time in 63 years that the display wont go ahead. The pandemic has impacted us all and the safety of all our guests and amazing volunteers is paramount. As a small charity, we can not afford to occur some substantial costs should the display not go ahead. We appreciate it will disappoint a lot of people but we feel it is the right thing to do at this difficult time”.
